Hello everyone!

So it's Valentines today, I don't really... care for it but it's put me in a good mood today.

A small rant but I actually hate when people refer to Valentines as forever alone day... the term forever alone disregards anyone who's ever liked you.
Those who call it forever alone day are essentially regarding those who liked them as never existing, I think it's such a stupid thing to say.
How are you "forever alone" if you've had a relationship before? I guess whatever you had doesn't count to you.
And if you've never had a relationship before but someone has liked you, you can't say it wasn't partly your fault if you're forever alone... but that's a little simple minded. I'm not mad or anything, just an observation on that silly term... HOW DOES THIS MAKE ME LOOK LIKE I'M IN A GOOD MOOD?

I do want to tell stories of my days in high school and girls... as it is valentines, but I seriously don't know how to go about it without looking like a douche and bragging D:

Maybe if people ask I can do /story time/ blogs haha.

Anyway, I come back to uni tomorrow so I hope this blog marks the beginning of the school year for me :D

To start off, I received some clothes from Asos today, I wanted to see their delivery system as I sort of /hate/ buying stuff online.

I'm actually quite pleased with how they go about their deliveries, as they end up leaving it at the post office if you're not home to receive it... I've ordered from Yesstyle before and if you're not home they just take it back with them and you have to call to set up a time for them to deliver it :c

I ended up buying a new shirt/belt and biker jacket... I'm somewhat content with the clothes, I'm always somewhat weary with the sizing since I'm skinny and all haha...

But as for asos, I loike dem.

Each student at uni received their timetables last week but upon checking mine I found out that my subjects were mixed up and that I wouldn't be with anyone I knew in one of the subjects I'm taking :c

This means I have to make new friends, goddamn it... I mean that's probably a good thing, just kidding guys.

The following Saturday a dozen of us [my and uni mates] decided to go to Equinox, a bar located in Melbournes CBD.

When my friends and I arrived at Equinox, there weren't many people there so my friend Beau and I decided to eat at McDonalds beforehand... we were hungry.

He gave me shit for taking a picture of maccas LOL

I don't remember much of the conversation except I somehow brought up Sprite and its healing powers (spoiler alert: it doesn't have any).

After the meal we went back to Equinox. The hangout was supposed to be a catch up session before the new school year but I never really caught up with many of my friends... I guess it wasn't necessary, it was just nice meeting up again.

I ended up stealing my friends glasses (which were wooden) and took a photo because .. that's what bloggers do right?

Mmm sa hipsta, UGH FFFF.

On another note, my friends is like blind.

I ended up mostly talking to my friend who spent 3 weeks in Japan and Korea on holiday.

From what I gathered... They're both ruthlessly cheap places to live, Japan is very friendly and Korea seems to snob all foreigners...

Guess I'll maybe go to Japan and not Korea one day, aha.

I also believe he bought this... aviators... fur ..cap .. thing...

A few friends went outside to play the cinnamon challenge... I didn't go out with them to watch though, ahh I wish I did and recorded it...

Upon leaving it was really effing cold outside... quite a change from earlier in the day...

On the way to the tram stop I saw an old friend, a pretty boy also known as Hippopothomas who is seen on Ellens blogs.

He has not changed, and said the same to me haha.

Hay,

Am I wearing pants? The great question.

So a couple of uni friends invited me to go and eat today, and because I've been pushing myself to be more social and wanted to blog more I decided to go.

I didn't take that many photos because I'm not used to taking photos when I'm out so I apologise :c

I met up with my friends at a fast Japanese food restaurant called Hanaichi in the city.

I was amazed at the speed the food comes out, I hadn't been before and I assumed because it was "Japanese" it would take longer to prepare.

I ordered Chicken Katsudon with rice whilst my friends ordered Pork Ramen, the meal was only $7, so I thought it was decent for people on a budget.

I didn't take any photos of it but it didn't look.. unappealing haha.

After talking for some time we decided to leave and headed to EB games where we just browsed around for any games we may have wanted haha.

My friends had recently moved to a bigger apartment and needed some extra furniture and whatnot so we ended up going to Ikea afterwards.

We're intentionally trying to look awkward and poser-y

My friends were specifically looking for blankets and whatnot for their new beds and so we ended up looking around the bedding areas mostly, hence the picture in the bed section.

I wanted a butt cushion and contemplated buying one but then opted against it because I didn't feel like carrying it home haha.

The butt cushion hehe.

I was also sort of looking for shelves for my room so I had a better place to keep my games and whatnot (I already have a bookshelf but I feel it doesn't fit within my room).
Naturally I stumbled across these really awesome TV set ups and it just made me envy people who have them.

Ahhh, this setting actually looked a lot nicer in real life. I hope one day I can have a nice set up like this.

We arrived at around 7 and we stayed until Ikea closed at 9, I enjoyed myself. I don't usually hang around with friends anymore so it reminded me of when I used to.

Anyway, that pretty much summed up my day, still a boring life ain't it?

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE NIGHT

Hey guise!

So last night was a blast!

If you didn't know, I attended a My Chemical Romance concert with a friend because everyone knows MCR is my favourite band and I HAD to go.

I don't want to summarise my whole night but I will go through the setlist and a few points that are sort of interest.

So here it goes:

I ordered a custom made shirt the week prior to wear to the event and luckily the shirt had arrived on the same day.

When arriving with my friend to the venue @ 7pm, we waited a bit and saw the opening act - Closure In Moscow (whom I would describe is sort of like a more rock oriented version of The Getaway Plan). Being in the middle of the crowd and being pretty height challenged we moved to the back and ended up getting a couple of drinks at the bar.

MCR finally came out at 9 and played until 11, and the crowd did indeed go crazy.

Gerard mentioned that this was the last stop of the tour and for Danger Days which made the crowd pretty excited (I guess we felt special that we were lucky last) but for me it was bittersweet.

The last time I had seen them (the last time Australia had seen them) was in 2007, I wonder how long it will be until I see them again.

I don't remember the full order except for the beginning two songs and the last two songs they played but here is the set list from what I remember:

Hey,

Do you ever wonder if I'm wearing any pants when I make these?

So my hairs in the process of growing out... I think once it grows out it'll look much nicer :D

Anyway, so since my last proper post I was employed. Huzzah.

I work with this buddy of mine doing graphic design. Though I think it's more like I work for him haha.

Certainly a great first job and I'm very happy to have been given the opportunity.

I've already worked on a few drafts for my first client and I must say, I am my harshest critic, I never think I'm good enough. But I guess that forces me to work harder :)

WIRES

Anyway, so I just bought a new table for my room. I got tired of my previous one which I had bought in 2009... which has since then, already sustained many, many scratches and whatnot... it was ugly haha.

Above is what my new table looks like and is also a glimpse of what my room looks like, I know it's quite a boring room and OH MY GOD THOSE WIRES.

I did most of the set up myself but I also had some help from my friend Hieu, who came over to chill.

Does the table look nice? I hope it does. TELL ME IT LOOKS NICE.

The album "Equilibrium" is a compilation of chiptune songs and the whole album is actually quite amazing but this song in particular has resonated with me the most.

This song in particular isn't loud or fast, it's quite ambient honestly, quite slow.

Notice how this comic reflects my current hairstyle and how I accentuated my forehead (but I still didn't do it any justice anyway).

My hair isn't as puffy either.

BTW, I watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo today, the first movie I've seen in cinemas of the year. I quite liked it. It was a long movie, I liked the length though.

My only issue was trying to keep track of the names because they do throw a few at you at once so it's hard to keep track of each character. But other than that, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

MY TRUE FACE

My forehead is literally double the size of an average persons my age, and I'm Asian, oH FML.

I really hate my forehead, I would give up a lot for it to be normal sized...

I really like the hairstyles I can do, however my forehead makes me just revert back to my "fobby" fringe look :(:(:(:(:(:(

To make things worse, I can't actually cover my forehead since I accidentally cut my hair too short...

I'm so sad. Comfort me while I wallow in sorrow...

Anyway, since now 99% of my viewership has seen my true ugly face, and have consequently stopped following me, I shall start the blog!

This is sort of old news but in a couple of weeks I am going to a My Chemical Romance concert (with a friend, UNLESS SHE BAILS ON ME) :D

The last time they were here was in December of 2007, which was a concert that I went to. Ahh such a memorable day...

I'm excited, but I wonder what it'll be like on the floor, considering I'm skinny and will likely be pushed around like FFFFUUUU-

I don't know if I should bring my phone or whatever, I feel like it might get stolen? I don't know D:

I do want to take photos though :c I want this to be really memorable.

I've been watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia lately, and oh. my. god. I haven't laughed so hard in a while.

It's a sitcom which follows a group of 5 dishonest, selfish people whom are usually hatching schemes to get rich quick, conspiring against others or one another for personal gain.
Obviously, they tend to fail, through hilarious circumstances.
It stars Danny DeVito (from the second season onwards) as one of the gang, and if you don't know who he is you can go to hell.

The first few seasons were alright but I really like the 5th and 6th seasons even more.

This particular scene made me laugh for a good 5 minutes.

This isn't the full uncut scene as it was edited for commercial purposes, and it doesn't work as well because it's out of context but WATCH IT ANYWAY? YEAH?

I just love the way the actors interact with each other and the faces they make...

So I haven't done a "proper" post in a while... I feel like I'm better at literally illustrating my life through comics than I am doing these boring worded ones, I also feel like this is what my blog has evolved to, which in a way sets itself from other blogs...

New years was a few days ago, I used to get pretty excited by it... now I find it so pointless. The celebration of it, I mean. But that's just downer in me, the cynical side of me. I mean, I find it an excuse to drink, party and whatnot, but the world needs excuses, who am I to judge?

I spent it funnily enough, with a mate and we drank a little alcohol and ate a little food, but I felt I got more out of it than if I had spent it in the city. With everyone crowding the whole goddamn area. Meaning no where to actually move. On a 30-something degree day.

I would have been more inclined to spend it in the city if it weren't so goddamn hot.

We drank some of this, which I can only explain as, a Big M with alcohol in it, and you can't taste the alcohol, at all.

All that being said, I do enjoy casually bumping into old friends when in the city. I've said it before but it's like whatever relationship I've had with certain people is gone now. I guess that's my fault though.

Anyway, we ended up watching The Inbetweeners movie, which I thought was pretty hilarious.

It still kept much of the charm from the TV show it is based on... but I don't know if that's a bad thing.
If anyones into British (and juvenile, vulgar) humour, I recommed they should watch the show (18 episodes in all) and then proceed to watch the movie.

I bought a few games over the few weeks and I think the one that's resonated with me most is Bastion.

It's an indie game that has all the charm of action/roleplaying games that you would find on gameboys :)

The art I found extremely appealing. I would describe it as stylised in a manner that is reminiscent of anime, yet still tries to be its own visual style, found in the proportions of anatomy and extremely vibrant colours.

JESUS DAT DETAIL

The game itself is short, but sweet. It has simple gameplay mechanics, easy to learn, with several options to choose from on how to play the protagonist i.e by choice of weapons.

The story is also quite simple, and is narrated by an elderly man known as Rucks, whom is mainly there to guide you through the story.

It's quite charming honestly, and cheap. Though not on sale anymore, it's still at a low price... I would recommend it to anyone with 10 bucks to spare :)

Anyway, so I've also been watching Shameless (the US version) and I think it's my favourite show at the moment.

It's a little risque, but it's also endearing (I'm a sucker for endearing) and each episode feels complete on its own without the need of cliffhangers.

I would describe it as, a show based on a dysfunctional family of 6 children and 1 single father.

It's less about the father than it is about the eldest daughter, Fiona Gallagher, played by Emmy Rossum.

It touches upon poverty and how the family has to take care of themselves when they have no money and have to live on every cent. But that doesn't bring them down, instead they take it as an opportunity to live life.

It's maybe not inspirational, but I think it makes you appreciate what you have more, even if you don't have everything, you have something.

I've always wanted to learn how to dance (specifically ballroom dance) so I could dance with my future wife at our wedding. I thought it would be sweet if I could make her happy that way.

As of 19, I still can't dance, but I guess there's a little while to go before I'd need to anyway.

Anyway, today was Boxing Day (crappy equivalent to Black Friday) and I bought a few things... that weren't really on sale, so I kind of just spoiled myself with today as an excuse...

Dawn On The Side

Hai,

So I've just come home from a screening of The Departed at "The Rooftop Cinema".

It's a special venue that plays movies on the roof of a building if it weren't already painfully obvious haha.

Unfortunately, it started raining about half way to 3/4 in the movie, which meant, because there was no shelter, I had to leave.

I had seen the movie before so it wasn't a big letdown, it was my first time there though, so it wasn't a good first experience.

Other notes:
The elevator didn't seem to be running and it was sort of a long way up the stairs, shows how unfit I am.
The girl at the counter was pretty as fuq.
The area felt like it was made for gigs.

So I finished school for the year a couple weeks ago, I was worried about a subject because I'm not particularly good at essays but I turned out to do really well.

My scores:

One 'High Distinction' and two 'Distinction' grades, I think I did pretty well :D

I ended up getting full marks for my DVD so I'm pretty happy about it, I don't know if it deserved full marks but I can't complain, it boosted my score :D

I'm pretty anxious when it comes to school, I've never failed a subject so failing in university would make me feel like shit... but I didn't so I'm in a good mood :)

In other nerdy news that the majority won't care about, the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises and the prologue for it have been leaked, which I may or may not have watched and it has made me extremely hyped and excited.

Everyone who knows me should know The Dark Knight is one of my favourite movies and when I first saw the trailer for the movie... I went completely mental.
So now, 3 years on, and the trailer for TDKR has been released around the same time and I still feel the same crazy feelings.

Me and my friends joked that we should go to the IMAX theatre in Melbourne (which is where they show the trailer) in case it rained today... and towards the end of the night it felt like a much better idea than staying out in the rain to watch a movie...

I actually think my future wife will have to love these movies... I don't know if I could marry someone who wasn't into Batman huhuhu.

Hi there,

Mindless self indulgence...yeah I kiss weird, get over it

So I haven't made a proper blog post in a while, I guess none of you noticed... I assume most of my readers had exams or something anyway hah P:

I still have college, one more week to go, everything is due on the last day, so I'm gearing up for everything. The biggest thing for me to worry about is the essay I have to write... it's quite confusing for me... hah, semiotics.

For my 3D modelling class, we're required to make our own humanoid character, and subsequently I chose to make a superhero of sorts.

I did go through a bunch of other concepts but I thought a super hero would be fun and not too complicated so I just went with that haha.

I still have to texture and add hair to my character, which will take me ... about two days so I think I'm managing my time well right now :D

For another class I have to do a DVD cover, which should have taken me an hour tops, but because I decided to redraw the whole thing instead of taking stock images and superimposing them, I did a fair bit of unnecessary work.

I'm not really that good at design honestly, I only have an eye for minimalism so it's "eh" but I'm happy with it anyway.

I've tweaked it a bit since this, but it's generally the same.

Anyway, before I end this blog post, there's something I've noticed about myself.

As much as I'd like to deny it, I'm still quite a mean person.

I write this in hopes to not only understand this flaw but to eradicate it.

I'm not trying to evoke a response from anyone, I just feel writing it right here will force me to better myself. I know one day I'll look back and I'll want to be able to say I'm not longer this or that because I improved.

I notice that I say really offensive things in order to seem funny, but I don't know, I feel guilty.

I don't believe in karma, but I wouldn't enjoy shit being said about me, so why say shit about others?

I like the notion of being a genuine person, is it so hard to be genuine?

So I was thinking to myself, how could I be any lamer?

Anyway, I didn't blog last week because I felt too lazy so I'll just do a short post now as to not feel guilty ... haha

School hasn't been too bad lately but I do feel like I'm leaving things to the last minute, not as paranoid as I was about failing as I was earlier in the trimester, I think it has something to do with people telling me I am too stressed.

I find one of my tutors/lecturers doesn't really know how to teach, and I think most of the other students agree with me. The tutor just confuses us even more, and when we need them, they're absent.

Pretty much how I feel about it...

I don't really have anything to show in regards to school, but I will have to create a character by the end of the trimester using Maya, so I will probably show you that if I'm not too ashamed ... haha.

I'm actually quite blank on what kind of character to do. I want to avoid my typical kind of mysterious guys and something some unique, anyone have any ideas?

I watched Drive last week with a couple of my friends. We hadn't seen a movie together in a while, so I was really looking forward to watching a movie.

I wasn't too intrigued by Drive when I watched the trailer but I heard it was a good movie so I watched it anyway, and damn, it's such a good movie.

The movie is described as: A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.

I don't actually find it too accurate (technically it is, but there's more to it), but it does well to market it as a high octane movie.

I wasn't expecting much but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I actually want to drive a car now since watching the movie. I never really cared for cars but dayum, if the movie doesn't make it look cool.

I feel like I have less to talk about since I hadn't been going out as much (and everyone knows I hardly go out at all), but I hope I can do the weekly or fortnightly movie night again with my buddies :D

It's been getting warmer, here in Melbourne, finally feeling like spring... and I hate it.

Reasons being:

1. I get really bad hayfever.

2. I don't like hot weather.

3. It gets windy as fuq

I am going to hate summer even more.

I do however like summer fashion. It's a more recent thing, I've always liked winter clothing a lot more but I'm starting to enjoy the colours now haha. Plus it's a lot more casual, which is a look I want to go for now.

My eye bags are so dark today...

I haven't been sleeping too well lately, school amongst other things have been clouding my mind.

Since I have a fair bit of assignments to do, I'm going to try and keep this post short.

I've been pretty stressed about my 3D modelling class as everything is due next week and I feel like I don't have enough time and that my inadequacies with modelling is keeping me two steps back.

For my second 3D modelling class I have to create a castle, and a vehicle or an arachnid/insect and a 3D logo design. So far I've pretty much have only completed the castle - though there are still things I need to work on. I'm kind of upset because I started off with a really ambitious concept but my skills weren't good enough for me to accomplish my goals.

My castle so far. Quite boring, quite simple.

Oh how I wish I had more time.

With one of my other classes I had to do some thumbnail logo designs for a faux games company as an assignment.

It sounds simple, and it really is, but our tutor made it much more complicated than it should have been.

I consulted her multiple times regarding submissions and she would often go in circles and never give me a straight up answer. Eventually she did give me an answer, only to change her mind in the last week of submission (this week).

Me upon finding out I had to do everything AGAIN.

We have a criteria sheet that is supposed to tell us exactly what to do and how to submit assignments, but instead of following the criteria sheet, she made her own rules, which can cause huge misunderstandings, and potentially have many students fail class.

I just wanted to vent because every time she changes her mind, I have wasted valuable time.

Just Like In The Movies

Hello.

I was dressed up today as I had a presentation to do, and we were supposed to wear appropriate attire haha.

I hope every ones having a good day. I'm tired as hell.

I'll just summarise today as roughly as I can :)

Today started off the same as the other days I have classes, waking up around 7.30am so I can leave at around 8.

I like how studying gives me something to do. I'm not a morning person, but since it forces me to sleep earlier and ultimately wake up earlier, I feel like a more stable person.

Not having anything to do messes with my head.

As a human, you want to have a sense of belonging and self worth, so I really needed this.

(Going off on a tangent... but then again, this is my blog)

Though I said today started off the same, I spent like an extra 20 minutes figuring out what to wear (I was supposed to wear business/formal attire as I mentioned earlier) I kept throwing stuff on and being like "NO I LOOK LIKE I AM GOING TO PROM".

I felt like an idiot on the train...

I thought I looked too dressed up.

I'm always so self conscious.

I was nervous the whole day, as I had to present a thesis point in front of my class with a partner.

I'm terrible at presentations. A little because I'm not good in front of crowds, but it's mostly because I know I will forget my lines or what to talk about.

Me and my partner had picked how the Iron Man suit is a physical manifestation of Tony Starks self image. It's quite a mouthful.

The argument wasn't exactly important as we could pick whatever we wanted, we just needed to be able to argue our point clearly.

The reason I was in a suit was because we had this idea to pretend to be Stark Industries employees, that was what our tutor wanted, something to grab the audience in so as to not be a typical presentation. Following this idea we also had schematics of the Iron Man suit printed out. It was sort of lame, but it worked.

I don't think we wowed the audience, but people did say we did a good job.

We also had a collectible model of the Tony Stark Arc Reactor (that thing on the centre of his chest) which we held out to show the audience haha.

We were showing off at that point haha...

I was really nervous and fumbled my words a bit... but my partner saved me, ahhhh. So sad.

I thought they were kinda cool.

I saw a couple of them, but I have no idea what they were there for...

On a side note, the weather at this point had felt sort of warm? I don't remember it exactly but I felt warm even for what I was wearing.

Melbourne weather is weird.

But I love it.

I noticed after I took the picture that the light from above kind of resembles heaven... or is that just me reading into things?

Evening,

Oops, missed a few frames...

So I'm currently in my second week of college life after a somewhat long break.

It feels nice.

So far my subjects have been pretty simple, there's a bit of terminology being thrown around though and a lot of it is very literal, it's a little hard to figure out why we're learning them, haha.

The only "hard" subject I have is 3D modelling, which I find somewhat complicated (I'm pretty used to Photoshop in contrast), and to make matters worse the lecturer says that 30% of the students fail. Let's hope I'm not in there :c

Today I had a lecture and a tutorial on signs and how they communicate ideas to us. It's quite impressive on how many students constantly know what to say, I'm the type to say nothing and feed answers to people more confident than I... hah.

At the tutorial, we were given some insight on what we would have to do for our first assignment, which is a paired presentation. I'm quite worried for it honestly (I have no confidence, if that wasn't obvious), but I think I have a good partner.

At the end of our classes today, me and a few friends decided to stay back to finish off a basic 3D modelling assignment:

This is the homework assignment (not an actual assessment) that the tutor made us to work on. It's a snail if it wasn't obvious. Last week was the first time I had used a program like Maya so bare with the mediocrity.

Side note: One of my mates said that my snail gives off an oriental appeal.

Yup.

I just looked at him, bemused. How does it look oriental? I mean... c'mon.

Does it look like a giant monster like Godzilla? I don't even...

Me and the same mates also had lunch at a local lunch bar, and I swear they serve the best burgers. No don't argue with me, they ARE THE BEST BURGERS. Pretty cheap too for the city, about $3.60 for a plain one.

I wish I took a picture, but it never occurred to me to take one. Bah, next time I go there, which will likely be soon, I will take a picture.

Hey,

For anon. Awkward smile is awkward... and ugly.

So over the past 2 weeks, I've only done one thing I find worth mentioning, I went to orientation for my new college!

Being there was compulsory for all the new students but I found that all they talked about was school guidelines and how to stay on top of schoolwork... little to do with what we've actually to learn and study and what to expect, which was a negative.

They did however give us a quick tour of the campus, which is quite small, but I didn't mind.

This is in one of the rooms that the students are allowed to chill in. The only picture I took unfortunately.

A couple of past students of last year and the year before showed us one of the games they've made, which I thought looked quite nice, having only graduated very recently.

They told us not to just expect to find a job, and if you think you have what it takes, make your own company, which is what they did.

All in all, I'm quite excited, I start on Monday so wish me luck :D

In movie news,

I've just came back from a screening of a Japanese movie called 13 Assassins. I came into the theatre, not knowing what to expect, except a bunch of samurai.

I came out of the theatre, quite pleased. I find this way of movie going the best way, as you have no expectations and have had no possible spoilage. But I digress.

To tell you as little as possible, the movie is based in the dying era of the samurai and the shogunate. After a corrupt lord decides to play around with the lives of others for the sake of being a lord, a dozen of samurai plot to kill him in order to stop his terror.

The movie, I found starts off slow and quiet, but through this I realised the sombreness reflected the era the samurai were in. It was a time of peace and their ways were dying out, nothing loud about it. Through this they also allow you to digest the information slowly, allowing us to realise why we should dislike the antagonist of the movie.

I can't say much about the climax other than it is a joyride, though violent.

All in all, the movie I thought was very enjoyable. I hadn't seen a movie in the cinemas in quite a while and the movies I had watched this year were somewhat mediocre, so jumping back in felt good. Watch it if you're up for a violent movie :D

Manifestation Elevation

Hi, most of this post will just be a picture spam.

I'm just going to summarise most of what happened during my time at Manifest.

After arriving at around 10:30, I waited for my friend Hieu to call me because I was supposed to meet up with him earlier, but got held back.

He never called me back, so I took the initiative to find him myself.

Side note: Manifest was much larger this year! The venue itself had two more buildings to accommodate everyone and the amount of people who came this year I would say doubled!

I knew what my friends were going to cosplay as this year so I had a general (but vague) idea of what they would look like so I could find them.

Eventually I did find them.

GUNDAMS UNITE.

The theme they had last year were Tetris blocks made out of cardboard. Continuing on the legacy they made "Gundams" out of cardboard. Genius.

One of the first cosplayers we encountered, Invader Zim cosplayers!

Though IZ is not an anime, still a great kids show, a little obscure though.

Apparently, a Neon Genesis reference? I don't know. But it was cool to see another box related cosplay haha.

THE RIDDLER, SPECIFICALLY JIM CARREYS RIDDLER.

Again, not an anime but I love me some Batman.

Riddle me this, riddle me that, who's afraid of the big, black bat?

Yeah, I don't actually know who the girl is supposed to be. Nice picture though!

At this point we were inside the games building, the two girls wanted a picture with my friends in their "suits" and I wanted more pictures for the blog, everyone wins!

But I really like the suit, goddamn awesome.

FOOD INTERLUDE:

Sorry I couldn't make the food look appealing.

It's just food from a fish and chips shop. I always love food from fish and chip shops because it always tastes better than the stuff McDonalds puts out. Haha.

Back to Manifest.

At this point my friends took off their suits and walked around casually.

This was probably my favourite cosplay at Manifest because FFVII = ONE OF MY FAVE GAMES EVER, AND THE KINGDOM HEARTS VER. IS SO SEXY.

I didn't actually realise Cloud was a girl until I was right next to her. I felt so rude though because I was like "OH YOU'RE A GIRL!" Her response: "Yes I'm a girl" and then proceeded to laugh at me.
This is the only picture of me btw ... I thought the photos of myself were... quite frankly uggos. Hence, why I pixelated the lower half of my face.

When I asked them where they were from, the one of the left said "Perth."

I've been remembering more and more of my dreams lately, I don't know if there's a reason, I just have.

I had a dream about hanging with a friend but calling her the wrong name throughout the whole dream, it was not until the end of the dream that I remembered her real name. I don't know what the dream was saying. I know I'm bad at remembering names but why did that come up?

I'm thinking of making a dream journal... though I don't know what good that would do. I think it'll have like a lot of stuff to do with me breaking my teeth (a fear I have since I have a chipped tooth).

News that mattered to me:

Most people should know by now that London (and now a large portion of Britain) has been filled with riots and looting by scum these past few days.

I don't know what to write exactly, but I know that I (and probably anyone with a conscience) find this so disheartening. How can we as human beings stoop to this level, wreak so much chaos, inflict so much pain to innocent people?

I saw a news report in which a reporter asked a couple of women whom, we can safely assume are apart of the riot, why they think it's right to do this. Their response was that it was to show the rich people they can do whatever they want.

My immediate reaction was bemused to say the least. They were destroying independent businesses. Ones that hard working people built up from nothing - and these scumbags were saying it's okay to tear it apart, that because these hard working people earned this wealth, earned the respect of others, it's okay to take that all away.

I saw another video of a guy who was noticeably in somewhat bad shape, assumingly from being attacked by rioters and seemingly being helped up by rioters, only to be mugged by them.

Here's the video:

The news I'm hearing is that he was mugged earlier and was knocked out before the video, and the video is of him being mugged again. I also hear that he's actually in good shape and spirits right now, despite having a broken jaw and a few broken teeth.

This is fucking ridiculous.

What are these "hoons" really fighting for? A playstation 3?

They're using the death of a man as an excuse to steal things.

Well this song I've been listening to a lot lately is from that one scene with Harry and Hermione, who dance to lighten up the mood.

I feel like this relates to the matter above, although this song would put them in a good light, which isn't exactly what I'm aiming for.

I still haven't bought the acoustic guitar that I said I purchased in my last post :(

I was supposed to buy it today but plans fell through and now I'm just stuck at home, being hungry haha.

That being said, I still haven't developed calluses from playing the bass guitar, so my fingers hurt a fair bit.

If I could sing I would totally play the guitar and pick up the womenzzzz, but alas, I am untalented and therefore I can never pick up the womenz.

Oh well, maybe I can grab a partner and we can upload videos on youtube like typical people with guitars haha.

I'm self conscious about how I would look on camera though haha, and my voice, which everyone mentions is childish. Thanks a lot guise.

Another problem is that I've no experience editing videos and whatnot, it might be a terrible video and therefore not worth doing.

Alice Nine - Heart of Gold

Alice Nine have recently premièred their newest title song from their single Heart of Gold. I'm a pretty big fan of A9 (not to the extent I used to be, but they're still A+ to me) and have been anticipating this release since they announced it a few months ago.

The song is pretty popish, as pop as Alice Nine gets. And as someone had mentioned, fit for an Anime Opening, haha :D
What I like about Alice Nine is that they don't have 1 particular defining sound, they dabble with heavy-ish rock and pop rock. They almost always make their songs easy to dance to, despite being for the most part a rock band.
An easy example of this is Rainbows, a dance song, yet with pretty cool guitar riffs.
Contrastingly, Cosmic World, another one of their songs, is a purely pop song, and yet the same vibe comes from it.

After last years disappointing release, Stargazer, I feel like the 3 releases after it (Gemini, Blue Flame, Heart of Gold) have definitely made up for it.

Heart of Gold is not one of their best songs to date, but I find a pretty strong mainstream single.

IN SOCIAL NEWS:

Not much to say today, not like I ever do haha

I was supposed to have lunch with my friend today (and promptly was going to blog about it) but plans fell through, so I went back to sleep :D

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't bought the books I planned to buy, my only excuse is that I haven't been bothered to go out to look for it. The only real book store nearby recently closed down, which is a bummer. I might just buy them online, they're probably cheaper, my only issue is that I have to wait for them to deliver them.

CINEMATICS:

So, I recently watched the third Transformers with a couple of my friends. The second movie left me with a strong bitter aftertaste, I actually forgot about the second movie for the most part and I had no hype for this movie at all. I did want to see a blockbuster movie though, which is why I watched TF3.

As for the movie itself, I found it to be an improvement over the second movie, but only because I really enjoyed the second half of the movie, which is balls out action. The first half is... dull, and on par with the second movie.

The movie starts off with Sam Witwicky failing to find a job, despite protecting earth and getting a medal from the president, blah blah. Then we are subjected to jokes that try too hard (I did laugh a lot at a couple of scenes) and a new Transformer (I really have a hard time distinguishing between each transformer, except for Bumblebee and Optimus Prime). The story is generally the same throughout each movie, the bad guys need something, and go out of their way to get it.

Any attempts Michael Bay does regarding plot falls through.

I think it is watchable, and it is actually a pretty long movie, but if you enjoy action, of which I'm sure most people do, you should watch it, at least rent it.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Manifest (an anime expo) is coming back to Melbourne, with last years special guest, Little Kuriboh.

I had the opportunity to meet him last year, which I did, and I can say it's one of my most cherished moments. I want to cosplay a Batman character, but I'm not really sure how I would go about doing that. I would need a leather jacket and a red mask D:.

I guess I'll probably not cosplay anyone but I'm still definitely going to go, just so I can meet LK again :D

I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures, haha.

Hello olleH

I look really girly here... I had another with my tongue out but that looked like I was tonguing myself.

First things first, I'm no longer in school (again!).

But unlike last year, I am sure I will be heading back to school, as this time, instead of straight withdrawing from my course, I enrolled in another course beforehand :D

Sooo in September, I am officially studying Games Design, full time.

Woo. I heard the college is pretty mediocre though so I am worried about that.

I will apply myself like never before!

On a semi-related note, I said I would embarrass myself intentionally at school, but since I'm not at school anymore, I don't really have anything to say :(

I believe I have a lunch outing with my two real life friends and fellow bloggers, Ellen and Hieu, on Wednesday, so check them out (but I'm sure you already have)!

Expect Ellen to upload dozens of images from the outing. Hopefully Ellen doesn't take too many unflattering photos of me, I'm not that photogenic... a good picture of me comes once every hundred.

I want to read.

I've always thought those who read are the most insightful.

I've never really read a book for reasons other than for the analysis of the themes and ideas found in the book.

So, that being said, since I'm going to have a few months of free time, I am definitely going to start reading.

I actually went looking for a few last week, but they were all sold out, in both the bookstores I went to.

Tonje Langeteig - I Don't Wanna be a Crappy Housewife

I can't believe this amassed 1 million views, and I contributed.

There seems to be an abundance of terrible quality songs and music videos, being put on Youtube and somehow reaching millions of views, thus making untalented people, famous.

It's stuff like this that makes me worry about the world. We live in a world where anyone can get their 15 minutes of fame, we're being subjected to mediocrity, and in a way, we're saying it's okay.

What about the truly talented people? They're overlooked time and time again, and it's sad.

I dunno, I just find it upsetting everything these days is becoming a carbon copy of something, and not necessarily something good.

Hello!

Kinda unflattering, but meh!

I believe it's been longer than 14 days since my last blog post... I wonder why I never blog... it's shameful D:

But anyway, I've reviewed a comment that said maybe I should blog about something embarrassing or funny that has happened to me in the past week or something. Easier said than done but I shall intentionally make my life more embarrassing from now on!

I actually went clubbing a couple of weeks ago, and honestly I didn't like it too much. Though, it is largely because I didn't actually do anything haha. It wasn't my kind of scene so I avoided dancing, drinking alcohol etc.

That being said, it was a treat to have seen a couple of people I hadn't seen in a while, I guess it was the only part of it that I enjoyed.

I am open to going again, though you'd have to pay me haha.

College Days:

Well, actually I'm currently on a 1 week break, so there isn't really much to talk about, but I guess I'll talk about my current assignments!

I am now in the 3rd part of my course, which is based on Typography, for those who don't know, typeface designers are the people who design typefaces, some call them "fonts." It sounds boring, but it actually isn't.

I guess it's best described here:

"Most people think typography is about fonts. Most designers think typography is about fonts. Typography is more than that, it’s expressing language through type."

Without type, there would be no communication. So I guess it interests me.

I'm really keen to be doing type design right now, though I am not to keen on doing the 1500 word essay. Not that it's that hard.

For my computer illustration half of the course, I'm actually really worried. I have to create a wallpaper and 3 postcards to match. And the quality of it has to be Top-Notch.

All of it isn't due till the end of the month though so I do have a lot of time.

Thursday - Magnets Caught In A Metal Heart

I really enjoy this song. It's not heavy nor is it pop-ish. To me, it's just alternative rock.

There isn't much to say haha.

Adele - Lovesong

I was introduced to Adele mid-May and have loved most of her music so far.

This song is a cover of The Cures "Lovesong", but it shouldn't be compared to each other. Each have their differences and merits and I love both.

I would describe her music as blues or soul. And highly suggest everyone listen to her, she's hard not to like :D

onelifecrew - CROSSROAD

onelifecrew did an ending song for anime Fairy Tail, so I was introduced to this band a year ago. They haven't released that much, or maybe it's just because there is a high lack of information on them on English sites, either way, their music is very Japanese, but not in a bad way.

They have this funk-pop-rock kinda feel, it's very catchy. I chose this song, despite being quite old for them, because I only heard it recently, but it perfectly shows what their music is like.

Cinematics:

Oh god, this movie was pretty damn good.

I honestly had low expectations, due to the last 2 blunders that were X-Men 3 and Wolverine.

But this movie is actually above X-Men 2, which is considered the best X-Men movie, and one of the best comic book movies.

Basically it shares a similar story as all the X-Men movies, where there is a conflict between Mutants and normal Humans, and slowly escalates into a battle of sorts.

I recommend people watch this, it's entertaining all around and I'm sure most of you would enjoy it :D

I also watched this movie called, "American Movie", which is a documentary about an aspiring filmmaker, on his quest to finish his movie, his dream since he was young.

It kind of hit me hard, because though Mark Borchardt (the guy whom it is based upon) tries to complete his film "Northwestern", he realises early on that he can't, and it's evident that he's depressed because of it.

He then tries to complete another short film "Coven", which he started 2 years prior in order to gain funds to complete Northwestern.

It's really about a man trying to accomplish his dream, and that is why it hit me so hard, will I go through similar circumstances?

Despite what I said, the documentary is actually quite funny and I recommend it highly! So torrent it or something, you should watch it.

This week I think I'm going to be watching Super 8, so I'll be sure to tell you guys how that went!

It's always hard thinking about something to write.

Oh hey it's been more than 2 weeks since my last blog ... well fuck that's disappointing.

I feel like my blogger is dead. My Tumblr, and Tumblr in general is always busy, real blogging is ... dying, sort of, it'll always live, but I don't think I'll always be "apart" of it.

I'm feeling kinda out of it lately. I want to be alone a lot more than usual, I guess I'm tired or something.

College Days:

I've currently completed the second stage of my course, which was painting/colour analysis - now we're moving onto typography, which IMO is where I'm actually going to start learning something.

I find it somewhat strange that I am having an exam at the end of this stage though, which I believe is going to be based on just Typography, lots of learning! Fun, fun fun.

It's funny that I mentioned I made my first real school friend in my last blog, because it turns out she hasn't been turning up to college lately, which to me is strange. I don't know if somethings wrong, or if she just decided the course wasn't for her.

That being said, I've made another friend anyway haha.

I've been listening to less rock lately, and getting more into more "electronic" stuff. And by that I mean, house, dance etc. type music.

As for the song, it's actually quite soothing, lyrically anyway. It's nice, and it's a step from the angrier stuff I listen to most of the time.

Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On

It was a little disappointing that Lupe Fiasco deviated from his usual stuff, but I understand there was a lot of influence from his record company when he made this album.

The song is quite light on the lyrics and whatnot, to my understanding, is about just not giving up on your dreams, but that's all you really need to say anyway, it's quite a catchy song, and it does it's job.

The fact that Lupe didn't use strippers as a means to get more attention still makes him awesome in my books.

Cinematics:

I recently watched "Source Code" (with Jake Gyllenhaal) and "Moon" (with Sam Rockwell), which are both films directed by Duncan Jones, whom I believe is the son of David Bowie. Both are sci-fi related, Moon more so than Source Code, but still enough to call it Sci-fi.

I wasn't expecting too much from the films but both were genuinely good movies. The movies are somewhat similar, they aren't too complicated, so they're good for a general audience, but there's more to the movies that underlies them. Before watching them, I feared that science fiction would slowly get worse and worse, but I think Duncan Jones has stripped me of that fear.

Source Code is about an army pilot, Colter Stevens, who wakes up in another mans body, and relives the last 8 minutes of his life - after these 8 minutes is where we find out Stevens is actually in a chamber called the Source Code, which allows you to live the last 8 minutes of someones life before they die. The man Stevens woke up as at the start of the movie, had died on a train which was bombed and Stevens mission is to find out who had bombed the train in order to catch the culprit before he bombs another part of the city. It's actually quite a simple movie and everything is explained to you throughout the film. I recommend the film and I believe it's worth the money :)

Moon is about an astronaut who has spent the most of 3 years on the moon in a Lunar Base alone to mine helium-3, which is explained is the primary source of energy we use in the movie.

the astronaut, Sam Bell, starts having a personal crisis nearing the end of his 3 year contract on the moon and so the movie focuses it on that. It's hard to really explain the movie because any other information I give spoils the movie. That being said, the movie is really quite well made and since you're with Sam the whole way through, you really grow an attachment to him.

I didn't watch this in the cinema as it's been out for about 2 years now, but if you can get your hands on a copy, or ... download it I think you would enjoy it.

Hello there!

I should have waved...

I've just come home from watching Thor, which was a fairly decent and fun movie by the way, and have decided to write this long due blog post.
I said I would do one once a fortnight but I didn't have internet last week and hadn't felt like writing one until now. Way to stay on schedule Edward.

A few of you have been asking to see a picture of me and my girlfriend together... and I reply with - MAYBE IF WE CAN GET A GOOD PHOTO TOGETHER.

Since my last blog post, I had received a few gifts for my birthday from my two good (great) friends.
Those gifts were 4 comic books - 2 Batman novels; The Long Halloween & its sequel, Dark Victory, and (currently) the only 2 Umbrella Academy novels, which were written by the vocalist of My Chemical Romance. Hahah, go figure that I'd read a graphic novel made by him.

Good comic. Really good.

Not the official tradeback cover, but I love this one way more.

I know a lot of people think comics are for nerds and are childish, and some are, but these comics have such a great story, a lot more mature than some would expect.
I finished the comics in a period of 4 days as they are really, really addictive, for lack of a better word. I'm not much of a critic, so I can't express or find the right words to explain how well they were written.

More people should get into comics IMO. then I don't look like such a huge geek.

College Days:

Soooo, talking about college.
Basically what we're doing now is learning more about colour, and painting (which I completely suck at). My lecturer does make the point that it does seem like primary school stuff but we're learning more about the theory, the effects and the emotions certain colours can bring to a person.

And in semi-related news, about 2 months after starting the course, I finally made my first real school friend there this week haha. I noticed that a classmate of mine goes on the same train as I do so I thought I may as well get to know her instead of awkwardly keeping to myself all the time haha.

I've been somewhat of a loner in school. It's not that I've been to shy, or wanted to be anti-social - I just mostly kept to myself to do the work and not have distractions, though I do occasionally ask people around me about how they're going or maybe to just borrow a pair of scissors or something haha.

Solar Sailer (Pretty Lights Remix) - Daft Punk

This is a remix of a song which was in the movie Tron: Legacy. It is found on an album called "Tron Legacy Reconfigured" which is a full album filled with remixed songs of Daft Punks score of Tron Legacy - check it out!
This, to me has a great beat and honestly prefer it over the original. There's a problem I have with a lot of remixes, when the remix has all these extra beats added and it feels like it is too full, if that makes sense. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, it is.

The song itself is pretty chilled. I can definitely drive in the city listening to this song (if I knew how to drive... haha).

#SINGitforJapan - My Chemical Romance

This is My Chemical Romances response to show the world cares about Japan during its time of need. Guitarist Ray Toro asked for anyone to show their support by sending in videos/artworks/anything to be POSSIBLY put into this video, and thus we have the creation and collaboration, if you will, of people worldwide.
The song is a rearrangement of their song SING, which is found on their latest album, Danger Days. Personally I don't find the original too captivating, but this song is definitely interesting, blending in string instruments with rock instruments.

I believe buying the song online will go to Japan as an effort to support them. So if you can, buy the song here!

I remember My Chemical Romance doing a similar thing with The Used, by doing a cover of Under Pressure as tsunami relief.

Hey!

No photo this week.

I took one with my girlfriend but I don't like it, hawhaw.

So it was my birthday yesterday (30th of March).

I'm 19 now, not really an important age because I'm already able to do certain things and I can't really say much about it because I haven't really received any presents, nor have I made a party nor am I planning to make one. Boring I know, but I don't like drinking anymore!

I'm not the type of guy to ask for presents, well not since I was a kid, so I'm happy that I haven't received anything (yet) - that being said, I did already receive a brand new MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I think I am finally getting a bass guitar really soon! So that's already pretty awesome :)

But moving on (haha)...

College Life:

All of my drawing homework was due on my birthday so I couldn't take the day off school.

It was a drag that I had to go, but it was also a relief because now I pretty much have a week break from doing any work :)

I still have computer illustration work to do though, but I'm pretty much ahead in that class.

What we have to do for computer illustration class is create a vector portrait of a celebrity. It's pretty simple, but very tedious.

I chose Joseph Gordon Levitt for my celebrity, here's what I've done so far.

As usual, I don't understand a word of Japanese, but the song gives off a particular (lonely) emotion. I'm not very negative anymore, but the song really gets through to me, I think hearing it live would be a treat.

I think girugamesh do ballads pretty well, more so than their heavier stuff.

Listen if you're a fan of J-rock ballads.

Hello there!

Webcams will always bring out the inner suppressed photowhore in me.

I'm thinking about what to write about right now, it's a lot harder for me than it is for a lot of people. I leave out a lot of information for the sake of being discrete, which also explains the delays with my blog posts, I've nothing to talk about in the long run.

The webcam I'm using is from my new notebook, which I received a couple days ago. I think maybe I'll do an Ellen and take webcam photos for each future blog post. Though, I'm not sure on how everyone feels about that. I usually feel weird taking photos of myself, as contradictory as that sounds.

College life:

Right now, it's pretty laid back honestly, I have too much free time, but for some reason I really worry about not finishing my homework on time. All my assignments are due on my birthday though, so I'm sure it'll be a pretty boring birthday.

As for the difficulty of the work, I find the hand illustration classes are a lot harder than computer illustration classes. No Ctrl+Z/Cmd+Z.

It's not a typical Gaga song, in that it's not a dance tune about Ooh Rah rah-ing and shows more of her skills in songwriting.

I don't listen to Florence & The Machine but I happened to stumble upon this remix of their song and thought it was really soothing, which so happens fits in with how I've been feeling lately, that is, more relaxed, with less worries than usual.

If anyone is a fan of the old Burton/Schumacher series of Batman movies, some of you may feel sad that the actor Michael Gough, who portrayed "Alfred Pennyworth" in all 4 movies died today.

I know I felt sad. He along with the actor for Commissioner Gordon were the only actors in those movies to be in all 4 movies. As a kid, I remembered only recognising his face the whole time I watched any of those movies, it's annoying to have a different Batman in (almost) every film.

Hiya!

So I've been away for a while.

The past month I (unsurprisingly) haven't been doing much.

I do like to think, however, that my life has been progressively starting to look less grim and actually seems to feel positive now. ;D

I started college again on the 16th and I must say it's pretty easy so far. There isn't an overload of homework and whatnot and I have plenty of time to do things across the week.

For those of you whom don't know, I'm doing Graphic Design part time :)

I've also been on a job hunt and received a call from Hoyts (an Australian cinema chain) and was told to expect another call soon with hopes of being called in for an interview. I'm probably being to optimistic about it, but I'm hoping I get a job, mainly for the sake of being responsible :)

To add to the somewhat positive note, I've also started seeing someone. Whom you guys may have heard me mention before. Maybe I shall mention her more in future blog posts :)

WHAT I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO:

GEMINI - Alice Nine

I've been looking forward to this album for a while as Alice Nine is one of my favourite bands and well, their past 3 singles were a little disappointing.

Their title track "GEMINI" is actually a 12 minute song that was split into 3. Though long, I think it's a pretty awesome song because of the many guitar riffs, just makes you wanna tear shit up.

GEMINI as a whole is arguably one of their better albums, I would put it above "ALPHA" and "VANDALIZE" but below "Zekkeishoku". The songs are mostly somewhat slow, but there are a couple there that are fast and heavier.

Main songs to look out for in the album are "birth in the death" and all 3 parts of "GEMINI".

Side note: It took me like 4 hours to download this album. I hate my goddamn internet connection.

WHAT I'VE BEEN WATCHING:

Adventure Time:

It's a kids show, but it has subtle hints of adult humour too. It's very positive and happy and very cute, I've always been a fan of cartoons and this show is one I put high on my list of great cartoons.
It's mainly about a boy, Finn and his "bro" dog, Jake, whom has magic powers to expand and shrink to any size, whom go on quests so they can be heroes. I think everyone would benefit from watching such a lighthearted cartoon.

Parks & Recreation:

I've seen this sitcom a couple times before, but I never really took the time to religiously watch it as I do other sitcoms. But after completing the first season this week, I can say that it's definitely one of the "smarter" comedies out there *cough2andahalfmencough*.
Though the mockumentary style is kind of old now (The Office, Modern Family) it's still a good way to convey messages and whatnot. Even an episode of Community utilized and commented about the format and how it works.

Hello readers, or lack thereof

I haven't blogged in a while, and I'll say, it's been a tough couple of months, I'll admit.

Since I didn't make it to university, I felt I was at a loss.

Running away, but never in the right direction.

It's hard to talk to people who aren't in your position, you can't relate, they can't relate.

Everything feels so distant, and in turn, you become distant.

After I half ass-edly tried to find a job, handing in my second rate resume, I tried one last time to look for a college I could study at, and I did - I found a design college that accepted me.

It's actually a bit early to say I've been accepted, but I do have an appointment arranged for Monday and it's likely I'll enroll on the same day.

It's only a part time course, which means I only come in 2 times a week, but I'm actually really happy about this. Things feel like they're looking up for me.

What I've been watching:

Over the past month I hadn't done much other than watch movies and TV shows.

I felt I really needed to escape reality and what better way than to watch fabricated reality.

Breaking Bad:

It's about a man with cancer who, on the last months of his life, decides to sell drugs in order to provide enough money for his family so they can live without debt after he dies.

It stars the father from Malcolm in the Middle, so he's probably pretty recognisable, but keep in mind, this role is very different.

It's actually quite depressing, but it's one of the best dramas I've ever watched, there's a fair bit of humour in there to keep things light and the acting is spot on.

It's really hard to not keep watching, a really gripping drama.

The Walking Dead

Basically The Walking Dead is about zombies and a man trying to find his family, whom he believes are still alive.

It's based on a series of graphic novels, which I haven't read, but have been told the TV series follows it closely.

You really feel for most of the characters in this series, you just want everyone to live.

Not as gripping as Breaking Bad, but certainly fun.

The Fighter

It's an autobiographical movie which centers around Micky Ward, a boxer and his half brother, Dicky Eklund, who is Mickys trainer but also an unreliable drug addict.
It has its fair share of sad moments but it's not exactly a sad movie.
It's pretty enjoyable and somewhat exciting - not having known about the life of Micky Ward, I didn't know the ending, thus I would not known if he would win or lose particular fights. Even not having watched Rocky, I want to say it was like Rocky, but realistic, for a more intellectual crowd. Brick me now, but it just seems so.

It was also Hayao Miyazaki's birthday this month, so a local theatre decided to show 6 of his movies over the course of 3 weeks.

I showed up to see 4 of the movies; Nausicaa Of The Valley of the Wind, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.
I hadn't seen the first two in full but I had seen the latter two before. Each movies were enjoyable, but Nausicaa felt overly long and somewhat dull at times.
It was a real treat to watch each movie in Japanese on a big cinema screen, I think more cinemas should sometimes show older movies that people can't watch in theatres anymore, some things are meant for the big screen and I'm sure they'd make a lot of money from it.

I do often change my personal preference, so this may not last! Haha, this shows a bad side of my character T_T.

In recent news, my sister received a puppy for her birthday (and early Christmas present) this year.

I was supposed to take a more recent picture (with me) but I forgot.

Her names "Maple" (as in Maple Story) and we've had her for a week and a half now.

My sister really looked after her for a few days but now she's getting lazy and not taking her out to pee, so Maple pees all over the floor -_-"

She's just so damn adorable though that I can never stay mad at either of them T_T"

So, I guess given the timing of this post, I'm posting things that have had an effect on me throughout 2010.

This image made me really depressed, I was feeling a lot more lost than usual, and this particular quote really hit me hard. Even though the most interesting people were just as lost as I was, I was thinking about what that would mean to a guy like me, what hope I would have.

Time is a really valuable thing, and this movie made me really think about that. I'm such a sentimental guy, though I try not to be, and change always scares me. I believe that's one of the themes in TS3, change, acceptance and moving on.

I waited 4 years for this album. And what it taught me was that I shouldn't be afraid to start things over. I really love this album, something I've been looking forward too for a while.

Community and Modern Family. To me, the two best sitcoms of 2010.
They're both very funny and at times, very poignant and/or endearing.
The former about a group of misfits in community college, that makes me feel all so much better about myself and the latter about 3 "modern" families, which always seems to make me want a family sometime in the nearish future :)

Anyone else care to tell me about what has affected them the most throughout 2010? Feedback appreciated. :)

I don't really ever make serious new years resolutions, but since I really, really want to start being more responsible and actually taking life seriously, I guess I better start being more active. And by that I mean, not sitting in front of my computer as much as I did this year.

Plus, I think my dad enrolled me into a school that teaches bass guitar, that'll teach me to get out of the house more. Hahah.

Now if I could only find a job... lol.

I guess I'm ending on that note. I hope everyone has had a great year (except for the fuckers who've ever pissed me off ever), mine was overall, a mediocre experience, but it wasn't too bad.

I'm actually not really in the mood to write a post.

But I owe it to myself to at least do something, anything.

So what is newsworthy...?

I ended up not getting into uni. And I'm not actually that sad. Or at least not anymore.

Since I didn't actually have a back up plan, I'm pretty much not going to study for at least another half a year.

So, I'm looking for a job (more seriously this time). And I guess it means more time to work on my folio(s).

So here goes:

WHAT I'VE BEEN WATCHING:

Mad Men.

A drama TV series based in 1960's America at an advertising agency. Hence "(M)ad Men."

I'm not a film student, nor the most articulate person, so I don't have much to say except that it's a pretty sophisticated drama when compared to the likes of Greys Anatomy or Desperate Housewives.

Most episodes end on somewhat of a cliffhanger so I couldn't bring myself to stop watching it.

It does revolve around social norms of the 60's and the events that happened in that era, and that's probably what I like about the show the most, how everything ties in with the characters.

I suggest if you want to watch a smart drama, you start with Mad Men :)

But if not, that's fine too, it's not for everyone.

Tron: Legacy.

Sequel to the 1982 sci-fi movie "Tron."

I watched the first one a couple weeks ago and honestly, I found it to be really... boring and overall a mediocre movie. Confusing to say the least. It was one of those movies that had special effects over story - and Legacy suffers from the same problems.

But, the visuals were still really good, and let's say it pretty much makes up for the lack of story.

Everything in the world is so stylized and awesome that I can't imagine anyone not wanting a "lightcycle" (Youtube it) of their own.

I think a lot of people should watch this as it is still a fun movie for the people who want to turn off their brain :).

Due Date.

I watched this with a (new) friend last week (I'll elaborate below) and all I can say is that it's a funny movie, but it's not as funny as some other movies I've seen (The Other Guys, Anchorman). There are a few points of the movie which you would probably recite in front of your friends as a recyclable laugh but not too many (as far as I can remember).

It's not a must see, but it is worth the money :)

Daft Punk - Derezzed.

Daft Punk did the soundtrack for Tron: Legacy so I've been listening to it a fair bit, mainly this song as it's the one that sounds most like them. The rest of the songs sound like orchestra with digital elements P:

Another reason why you should watch Tron: Legacy is definitely for the soundtrack :).

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN DOING:

So, as I mentioned slightly above, I watched Due Date with a new friend :D.

She stalked me through my blogger (you know you did) and eventually we became friends and we decided to hang out together. Somewhat like a "date," though I quoted it because it wasn't really a date, more, an outing :)

We didn't really do much, other than eat, watch a movie, sit down in the grass (like a boss) and walked around. But I guess we got to know each other a little better, and maybe we'll be good friends for a while, as corny as that sounds. She said she had fun though, which is a relief. Because I'm such a boring person T_T.

I only really wanted to mention this because my blog seems so boring all the time and I never talk about my outings with people D: But consider this THE FIRST OF MANY.

Late night blogging ftw~

It's currently 330AM as I write this blog.

Though when I do publish it, it'll probably be around 1 hr as it takes me a while to gather my thoughts and type it out coherently enough.
I know, it's terrible! I should figure out what I want to write wayyy before.

So there are a few things I want to blog about :)

Firstly;

Last month I said I would be sending storyboards to RMIT (the university that I want to attend next year), which were pretty much applications in order to be granted an interview with them, and then from the interview they would decide if I were worthy enough to study in their course.

Last week I was granted the said interview :)

And so my interview was on Tuesday, the 23rd, which was pretty nerve racking, I was stuttering, trying to be as articulate as possible, but all that came out were "ummms" and so before I got to fully answer their questions they moved on, which upset me a little because I really wanted to seem as enthusiastic as possible!

So, now I'm really quite worried that they thought I wasn't suited for their course, and well, at a loss once again.

I was, however extremely surprised to find out 500 people applied to the games course, that of which 100 get granted an interview, which means I beat 400 people! But that also could mean they needed to fill spots and mine just so happened to be a little better than other people :(.

I find out the results next week, so wish me luck guys :)

Secondly;

LOOKIE WHAT I HAVE

I also talked about it my last blog, but I was super duper excited to hear MCR was releasing a new single this year, and was even more excited when I had received it on the 19th (despite it being released elsewhere on the 22nd).

It's been 4 years since their last record and well, I think it's been too long!

The past week I've only been playing MCR songs (with a very small amount of other songs) because it's pretty much the only thing I'm ever in the mood for now.

I know a lot of people probably don't want to read me talking about how much I love MCR, my new-old favourite band (it was MCR then Alice Nine then now it's back to MCR), but it's seriously the only thing I've been looking forward to in a long time.

The album, "Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys" is for the most part, a party record, and I love that.

I find myself, typically, a guy who would find any excuse NOT to dance, just wanting to effing dance.

Can you imagine me dancing? I can't either, that's why it's effing genius.

My personal faves are "The Kids From Yesterday" and "Destroya", two very contrasting songs.

In fact, there is a small variety of genres on the album, as a few are pretty beat driven and therefore made as a dance song, a few others are straight up pop tunes, while the album also has a psychedelic vibe in a song :).

I suggest anyone who has a taste for rock/pop-rock listen to it ;)

And if you want me to be more in depth about the album, just ask lol.

Thirdly;

Now that I don't have to work on a folio anymore, I shall be going back to job hunting.

Question.

Should I look for a casual job for Christmas at this point or should I get a part time job, which is obviously more steady.

I am such an irresponsible bum that I haven't even acquired a job yet. Sad man.

And lastly, I actually started an art journal, which I plan to draw/doodle in every few days in order to improve my ability to draw, but mainly to actually have something to blog about regularly.

Hello

I really wanted to make a post this month despite being swamped doing folio work, but, here I am, taking some extra time off to write this :)

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING IN THE PAST 36 DAYS:

In the past month I've really only been working on my folio and some storyboards I need to do in order to get into my desired university course for next year, so I wanted to avoid as much social activity as possible because I know I would get lazy and not work on what I needed to work on.

That being said, I feel bad for not writing anything, but I assume my "readers" don't really mind because some are busy with their exams and whatnot, so who's going to read it?!

To make up for it though, I'll show you some stuff I've been working on:

What's also happened in the last month is that MCR have officially released two songs from their newest album coming out in November.

I'm actually REALLY EFFING EXCITED TO HEAR THE WHOLE ALBUM.

Starring Ryan Reynolds... oh god, such a good movie... and like GOD I wish it ended differently.

Apparently it'll divide critics and moviegoers, but I thought it was REALLY good.

Starring Ben Affleck, also a good movie, more traditional in a sense that it was more of a blockbuster than Buried.

Starring, Hit Girl from Kick-Ass, she's got some long name, I forget.

A remake of a European movie, which in the most basic description about a Vampire and her relationship with a boy.

Slow paced, but it worked for the film a lot. Also really good.

I used to be a fucking douche.

So critical of others, so hypocritical, so not who I ever want to be again.

I used to talk as if I was hyperactive, and well frankly, it was hard to read that shit, cos it was so, dare I say it, TB.

I had a few too many "XD'S".

I said things I wish I could take back because I know how easily things could be misinterpreted over the internet.

I thought I sounded mature then, but now I know I was just someone who had an ego too big for himself, and the impression people must have had of me is just too hard to imagine.

I guess saying this now is to just make up for how big of an ass I was.

Art Is The Weapon

So I was thinking about the past.

As always.

And I came to the conclusion that if I was given the chance to go back in time and start things over from any point in time I want with whatever knowledge I have now, I would do it in a heartbeat without hesitating at all.

The earliest time I would go back to the year 2002 (because that's when My Chemical Romance released their first album) but realistically, I would go back to 2004 (because that's when MCR released their second album) and just be some awesome child prodigy honing my "art".

There's so much I'd re-do; make a few more friends, stop myself from making a few other friends, do the things I've always been too lazy to do (learn an instrument properly), all-in-all righting the wrongs of my life, because the way I see it, I've been wronged one too many times.

And sure, a lot of you would say stuff like mistakes are meant to happen, you wouldn't be you if it weren't for those wrongs, it's fate - but my first response would be "fuck fate, I want to be in control of my own life."

And I know it'd be hard, to repeat 8 years of my life for the sake of making my life worth living, but I know there's one thing that would keep me sane all those years - and that's music, somehow reminding me that there's a point to everything.

So getting straight into this blog, there's about two things I'm really going to talk about in this blog:

Manifest and

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Okay, so for those of you who don't know what Manifest is, it's basically an annual anime festival held in Melbourne that lasts 3 days.

I went this year mainly to meet Little Kuriboh (which I did) who was a special guest this year.

And to those of you who don't know who Little Kuriboh is, he does this web-series called Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, which is basically a redubbed version of the real series (albeit humorously) done with just his voice. He has a pretty loyal fanbase and well I suggest you watch his videos if you haven't so far.

I also got a couple autographs from LK on one of my Expendables movie ticket stubs and my Manifest Okatu badge ;D

He told me the reason he's so awesome is because he wanted to annoy me :).

The other reason I came this year was to cosplay as tetris blocks with my 2 friends, however, I didn't have money to buy boxes so that plan fell through for me.

My friends however had money for their own boxes and so instead of cosplaying a tetris block, I helped them make the boxes and navigate through the crowd at manifest, which turned out to be a really hard job as they were immensely popular there, you'll probably find a lot of pictures of them online. We literally couldn't take 5 steps without people saying either "OH CAN I TAKE A PICTURE?" "ARE THERE PEOPLE INSIDE?" "OMG TETRIS" or humming the Tetris tune.

We actually made the Tetris blocks on location which took about two hours and 3 rolls of duct tape and didn't actually go inside until around 2pm (we arrived @ 12).

Okay, so Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is a good, funny movie that appeals to everyone who's ever been a video game nerd.

I'm actually listening to (one of) the soundtracks of the movie right now.

It's basically about this guy, Scott Pilgrim, who starts dating Ramona Flowers, a girl whom has 7 evil exes who want to fight Scott, for reasons I forget.

I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't like the way it was made as the scenes were really short cut and actually made it harder for me to enjoy. Although it could be attributed towards the fact I didn't sleep for 28 hours.

If I could watch it again I would because I'm pretty sure I would have liked it more if I had watched it with a good nights sleep. I probably missed like 10 minutes worth of story because I zoned out little by little a lot.

7.5/10 for me. Maybe 8/10.

I also watched The Expendables (obviously) which I thought was a good testosterone filled movie, 8/10 if you shut off your brain, 6/10 if you expect a plot of any kind.

Your Mind Is The Scene Of A Crime

I watched Inception last week.

I don't know what to say other than I thought the movie is great. Not the best movie ever made. But great.

A basic outline of the story I can give is that an "extractor" (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his team are offered to perform "inception," the act of placing an idea into someones brain by going inside their dreams. Thought to be impossible, it turns out Leonardos character "Dom Cobb" has done it before and accepts the offer, so that he can go back to America to see his children.

So as you can see, what most people will be interested in, is the fact people can go into peoples dreams, where peoples most inner thoughts and demons linger, a place where dreams literally come true, but at what cost?

It was pretty much eye-candy + thrilling action and story, what more could anyone want? Other than you know, naked ladies for the guys.

I actually misunderstood a few parts because I wasn't listening the whole way through (I was trying to make sense of the earlier parts of the movie) so I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have, but then I figured stuff out in the end :).

It is actually a pretty long movie, however I didn't even notice how long it was, I was enjoying myself way too much!

So the reason I'm making this post is because I wanted to say I made two blog posts this month, so here it is!

Okay, so in these past 3 weeks, I haven't really done anything unusual.

But there is one thing I wanted to mention, and that is the fact I quit university.

Before you say anything, I want to justify my actions and explain what I plan to do now.

So the reason I'm withdrawing from university is because the current course I'm in, just isn't for me.

I'm not made to do it, I've no interest in it, the sheer thought of me doing it for another 6 months/3 years makes me want to shoot myself.

So, somewhat impulsively, I decided I couldn't bring myself to go there anymore and told my dad my intentions.

I plan to go back next year, albeit a different university and different course and take these next 6 months off and find a part time job to make use of my time and not just slack off, as I am quite the snorlax.

Don't judge me!

Wish me luck for next year :)

I'd also like to mention I watched The Karate Kid yesterday, which I think is quite a good movie, although too long for its own good, Jaden Smith is a hell of a good actor for his age.

First of all, some people have been asking how my holidays have been, and in short, it's been good actually.

I've had time to relax, I was worrying about not passing any subjects for my previous semester at university, but I've passed them all, so yay.

Downside is, I start my next semester tomorrow (Monday), which meant I only had a 3 week break.

Bummer really, it was too short, I wanted at least a 5 week break, more time to relax, but well, I can't complain too much.

Let's hope I try harder this semester so I don't have to worry about whether I've passed my subjects or not.

So last week I watched 3 movies; Toy Story 3 (yes, again), Get Him To The Greek & Eclipse (yes, Twilight).

Since I've already talked about Toy Story 3 I'll just talk about the other two.

Firstly, Get Him To The Greek was enjoyable and had it's moments, but the end was a little draggy and I stopped caring for the characters.

I think it's worth the money, but it's probably best to watch it as a group of 3 or more, just so you can recite the best parts of the movie.

Secondly, okay while I haven't watched the first two in the series, I found Eclipse not too bad, I'm not saying it's good, but I was expecting it to be really, really bad.

I believe it's watchable but not exactly good.

I'd like to rant, but I'll spare you it since most people will know what I'll say anyway haha.

Overall, I didn't mind any of the movies I watched last week, all watchable, but nothing stood out either.

My last blog also had a reader ask me to update with my many stories of university life.

I don't think I have many, if any, that are actually interesting, but I'll talk about a small thing that made me laugh really hard.

So this was at the beginning of the year, during orientation, I was still trying to make friends, and started to hang around a couple guys.

During break we decided to go eat at one of the cafes located inside the university campus.

As we bought our food we sat down outside where there was a bee lurking around.

We were chatting away when the bee decided it wanted to terrorize our area and like the little girls we were we kind of jumped out of our seats trying to shoo it away.

It left, but as we sat back down again it came back.

This happened a couple of times, so one of the guys I was hanging around with got frustrated and used his sandwich to try and swat the bee out of the way.

However, instead of successfully swatting the bee, all of the contents of the sandwich flew out, unfortunately towards a lecturer.

You could kind of see it go in slow motion.

So, there I am, laughing my ass off and my new friend is apologizing like a madman.

And as you can imagine, the lecturer was pretty displeased.
